No vacation rental or hotel has more dining options than Willow Winds. Three options for dining while at willow Winds:

  1. Dine in one of the many quality restaurants as well as the usual fast food eateries within fifteen minutes of Willow Winds.

  2. Have us shop for your groceries and have them in our cabin upon your arrival. Ask for our Willow Winds Grocery Shopping Service when you make your reservation.

  3. Purchase your own groceries and prepared foods in nearby upscale supermarkets with delis (Harris Teeter, Ingles, and Earth Fare) within 7 minutes of Willow Winds.

While each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, and there are three upscale supermarkets and pharmacies (one is open 24 hours) within two or three miles, there are a number of dining options near Willow Winds.

Hendersonville Road Restaurants - 5 to 7 minutes away

Within a four mile radius there are numerous restaurants of all kinds - from fast food to gourmet dining, with a number of moderately priced family restaurants in between. One of our all-time favorites, as well as one Asheville's finest restaurants - is the Southside Café, where we have never had a bad meal. It is only 5 minutes from Willow Winds. The Tupelo Honey Cafe', long a down town favorite, has opened a new restaurant nearby at 1829 Hendersonville Rd. The Atlanta Bread Company at 484 Hendersonville Road and the Panera Bread Company at 1843 Hendersonville Road both have delicious breakfast, and lunch sandwiches and pastries; Apollo Flame, a family friendly bistro featuring Greek and Italian fare. Forest Blue Restaurant & Lounge is a new addition presenting innovative twists on classic American dishes, and the Texas Roadhouse has great steaks (please call ahead to avoid a long wait). Province 620 is a local favorite and has wonderful lunch and dinners. For a great authentic Mediterranean experiences try Pomodoros which is just off Hendersonville Rd. on 75 Long Shoals Rd.

Biltmore Village - only 5 minutes from Willow Winds

There are several quaint shops and nice restaurants only 3.5 miles away in the historic Biltmore Village area, Ichiban for Japanese cuisine and La Paz Cantina for good Mexican dishes. A good recent addition to Mexican cuisine is Rita’s Mexican Cantina in Biltmore station. Our favorite for breakfast as well as a good lunch and casual dinner is Corner Kitchen. Rezaz is an upscale restaurant in Biltmore Village which consistently rates as one of Asheville’s finest. The Fig Bistro is an upscale bistro that ranks among the most popular in Asheville. The Red Stag, inside the Grand Bohemian Hotel, features contemporary food with local ingredients.

Gerber Village - 5 minutes from Willow Winds

Gerber Village, which is only three miles down Sweeten Creek Road (Rte. 25 A) from Willow Winds, boasts a great new addition to the restaurant scene. Five Guys has produced the best hamburger of any restaurant in the Washington DC area for many years. Recently it has expanded to several other cities, where it has been acclaimed as the best place to get a great hamburger. You won't find a better, fresher juicier hamburger anywhere, than those made at Five Guys.
For those who favor a more up scale restaurant with a plush surroundings and fine food, Frankie Bones is in the same block.

Biltmore Park Town Square

One of the exciting new developments south of Asheville, only about 15 minutes from Willow Winds, is the new town of Biltmore Park Town Square, with several fine new restaurants as well as shops and a luxury theater. We have been especially impressed that 131 Main, long considered one of the best restaurants in Charlotte, has opened a fine restaurant next the to the theatre. On the other side of the theatre is the Travinia Italian Kitchen , which offers fine Italian dining. For delicious Chinese food it is hard to beat PF Changs, another new restaurant in Biltmore Town Square.

Downtown Asheville

Only 10-15 minutes away are the many cafe's, bistros, and fine restaurants of downtown Asheville. Vincenzo's, a fine Italian restaurant with live music and the unique Tupelo Honey Cafe, offering southern favorites with a creative twist, the Lobster Trap with offerings right off the boat are but a few of the choices available in the Asheville downtown. The Bouchon French Bistro is a local favorite with a friendly atmosphere and fine food.

Some of America's Best Barbeque Only 5 Minutes Away

An unique new barbecue restaurant that has won national acclaim from ABC News as having the best barbeque ribs has come to Asheville. 12 Bones Smokehouse, initially opened in the river arts district of downtown Asheville at 5 Riverside Drive. However, it became so popular with locals and the lines got so long, that it opened a second location only about five minutes from Willow Winds on 3578 Sweeten Creek Road. It is open only from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday. You should come early to avoid a long line, however, there is a takeout service for those who don’t want to wait. The award winning ribs and country cooked side dishes can make a wonderful feast back at your Willow Winds cabin.

There are also numerous other choices for good barbeque in Asheville. For many years the Little Pigs BBQ at 384 McDowell St. has been a local favorite, as well as a personal favorite of ours.

Farmer's Market

There is no better country breakfast anywhere than the country breakfast served at the Moose Cafe by the Farmers Market. They are famous for their hot biscuits, and Apple Butter, and country ham. If you prefer to stay in the neighborhood, a local breakfast favorite of ours is JK’s Kitchen at 6 Long Shoals Road, 4 miles from Willow Winds. For a good basic breakfast at a very reasonable price, it is hard to beat.
